L’Isola di Pinocchio More images from my visit to the atelier of Roberto Comin, a modern day Geppetto, the last Marionette maker in the city of Venice. He is a craftsman of the first order who makes all of these wonderful marionettes himself along with his sister, Manuella, a professional tailor and creator of Venetian carnival costumes, who makes the custom clothes for each marionette. The bodies, arms and legs are carved from wood and the heads, feet and hands are first created with clay, then molds are created from these followed by the molds being filled with a wood pulp and glue mix plus a secret ingredient!
