‼️Right Place -- Right Time‼️ ... t'was pushin' cart a few laps 'round WallyWorld the other morning when this announcement came blaring over the P.A.: "All plants and pots on Garden Center patio are $1.00 each! Markdowns will be made at register!" New (to me, but actually 40y.o.) townhouse's personal areas (front from sidewalk to building, and appx 10X20ft patio on backside) has serious lack of landscaping ... so I grab a couple each - Spruce bushes, Russian Lavender, Oregon Grape (more like Holly) Aloe, and another succulent. Plus a selection of various sizes of pots from 1qt to 5gal. Planning to put a Spruce in gravel strip on both sides of front steps, they're 2ft tall in 3gal containers and will grow very slowly. To the sides of the Spruce I'll place the Oregon Grape, 15-18" in 1½-2gal containers, in 2-3 yrs they'll need trellis to grow on. The succulents and Lavender need more sun so they'll go into new larger pots on patio. Hope to install a raised veggie garden in patio area where currently there's 40sqft of uneven splotchy mangled sod that previous dog used as pee-pad, which is why any gardening will be in raised beds or containers. Let's hope my thumb or another of my phalanges is #Green!
