Japanese designer @NanakoKume_ presents her delightful sharpener pendant light series made of large wood shavings. Inspired by the distinctive shavings left behind from sharpening coloring pencils, the pendant light were created using a custom built, giant pencil sharpener. To craft her pendant lights, Nanako Kume began by softening the wood block in a steamer before shaving it out, making it bendable and easy to scrape out in thin but sturdy layers. The fresh shaved wood is flexible and is formed as it dries. In addition to softening the wood, the angle of the sharpening blade in the aforementioned giant sharpener, needed to be adjusted to get a good scraping. __________ #ArchitectureNow All materials presented on this site are Ⓒcopyrighted and owned by the creators listed above.
