Wow Kenzie - thanks for posting that additional information. I live in Arizona & I'm surprised it isn't more popular here since we have about 300 days of sunshine per year.

Good for them. I find it very sad that the White House (under Carter) installed solar panels, but the rest of the nation didn't follow. Because they're not used much, they're still quite costly. But why aren't new homes built with them? And why didn't someone explain long ago that if one cannot afford to put solar panels on the entire roof, that having one will supply the power for the refrigerator and a few lamps? Or that two will supply the washer and dryer and the refrig? Or why didn't anyone explain that you could add them gradually and that you don't have to put them all up at once? Or that the experienced DIY person could make and install solar panels for about $700 per home?
