The Finalists of Dancing with the Stars
Only four couples remain.
One couple goes home.
Three go on to the final.
In a perfect world the results show would be about five and a half minutes. But no. Fifty four and a half minutes are added!
OK, it wasn't the worst results show ever, but it did drag on!
Here's the short version of the proceedings:
- Mya and Dmitry reprise their samba (well, it did score 30!)
- We had a run through of the previous night
- We then had a fake "Who's going home"
- We then had a dance troupe (sorry can't remember the name, but they were quite good)
- Alicia Keys. Now she is really good.
- Spoof video of the celebrities singing along to "Under Pressure" by Queen/David Bowie. As Tom said "Well, Under Pressure doesn't mean you can lip sync!"
- We then had the top two couples in terms of scoring. And Mya & Dmitry were safe. Joanna and Derek were still in jeopardy
- Leonna Lewis then treated us to some professional lip syncing. She's good, but she was lip syncing.
- We then had the lowest two couples in terms of scoring. Donny and Kym were safe, Kelly and Louis were still in jeopardy. Donny had the lowest score, so there's going to be an upset!
- The Bee Gees. I thought they were The Janitors. Old guys, potential toupees, shades of their former selves. Then they sang. Wow! The memories came flooding back. They weren't lip syncing! They were damn good! You SHOULD be dancing! Tony, Cheryl, Chelsie and a guy I don't know danced. Meissa Rycroft joned them at the end for about 2.538 seconds. That was it. Talk about over-hyped! She did a great lift with Tony though. Bee Gees - respect!
- Kelly, Louis, Joanna, Derek. Commercial break. Oh please!
Joanna and Derek are going home. Kelly blubbers. Sharon is ecstatic. So is Ozzie, but err, what's new?
Joanna was by no means my favorite contestant, but I have never seen such a wonderful last dance. Well done Joanna and Derek. Well done ABC.
On to the final. Is Mya a lock? Or will the Osmond Nation see him through? Or will Kelly overcome many, many emotional challenges, along with the fact she can't dance as well as the other two?
