Who remebers Snow-White and Rose-Red?
Snow-White and Rose-Red is an old fairy tale from the famous collection by the Grimm Brothers. It's a lovely story but lacks development of characters. It's also quite predictable and it's completely understandable why today almost nobody knows about it while Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Puss in Boots and other classic fairy tales still enjoy the popularity among probably the most spoiled audience in the history.
Anyway, there was time when Snow-White and Rose-Red was frequently published and republished, especially in the golden years of picture books when the development of printing techniques offered great quality / price ratio and the setting in the woods, with lots of colors, a bear, a dwarf and several visually interesting settings made this fairy tale a sure winner on the shelves.
Even more - apart from picture books, many illustrations were also used for picture postcards, calendars and other ephemera.
