Sounds crazy, but there are certain kinds of foods that naturally burn off calories while you eat. Other kinds of foods help block calorie intake. Since my waist size went from a 34 to a 38, this is an area I have been taking an increasingly harder look at.
SPICY FOODS - such as chiles and curries help boost your bodies metabolism, which in turn burns off calories. And they continue to naturally burn off calories for hours later, toss in a walk or a jog after the meal and you are looking at the perfect combination for healthier living.
Habaneros and cayenne chilies are a great source of matabolism boosters, but by far the king of the chilies is the jalapeno chilli which contains capsaicin which magnifies the matabolism rate even higher then the other chillies.
CEREALS - This almost goes without saying, chosing the right cereal can have an impact on your heart as well as your life. What you want to focus in on is whole grains and oats. A diet containing whole grains and oats helps boost your matabolism rate, and the complex carbohydrates help to keep your insulin levels low, and because they are higher in fiber they help out your digestive system.
A cereal I have begun using is General Mill;s multi-grain cheerios. It contains five whole grains. I find the five whole grains taste great together, and a plus is the fact that they are lightly sugared - unlike many of the other cereals. The vitamin count is also very high, and a single serving contains 100% of your daily iron. But if you check it out, you will find many other cereals that are also whole grain.
Check out the ingredients, your whole grains should be listed first, before anything else. The whole grains corn, oats, barley, wheat and rice are listed first on my box, and that is what you want.
LOW FAT YOGURT - yogurt is a winner on all fronts, it's packed with protein, calcium and bacteria. It is a great way to help aid in digestion, and those high levels of protein means you burn up calories.
LOW FAT MILK - The matabolism booster in milk is it's high calcium. But milk also has other benifits, such as its complex carbohydrates which help keep your insulin levels low - which is vewry important since high insulin levels store fat. University studies have also shown that people's diet which contained 1,250mg of calcium daily lost twice as much weight as those whose diets did not contain that much calcium.
increase your blood sugar levels which help make you feel full, which helps reduce that feeling of being hungry. Apples also contain high amounts of pectin, which helps prevent fat cells from absorbing too much fat, and helps your body release fat. Apples are also high in fiber, which helps with digestion.
GRAPEFRUIT - contains high amounts of galacturonic acids which burns up fat and helps lower your bad cholesterol levels. I was also surprised to learn they are also rich in pectin, just like apples. If eating grapefurit is not your cup of tea, try grapefruit juice, just a few ounces with a meal can make a impact on your daily diet.
SPICY MUSTARD - acts like chillies, and boosts your matabolism.
GREEN TEA - is a great drink to help boost your matabolism. I have a problem when it comes to green tea, I prefer the taste of black tea over green, yet green tea is much higher in all the good stuff our bodies need. So when I make tea, I mix one black tea to one green tea and end up with a flavor I like, along with all the good affects of green tea.
It is the high amounts of antioxidants found in Green tea that boost your mababolism. Green tea is also good for a healtrhy heart.
LEAN MEATS - such as turkey and chicken help boost your matabolism as well. The more you boost your matabolism the more calories your body will burn.
WATER - recent studies suggest drinking about 16 ounces of plain water a day helps boost your matabolism. But even if it didn't, water is a natural appetite surpessant which also aids in your bodies ability to flush out sodium and toxins.
BAKED BEANS - high in fiber as well as protien.
CURRY - a great spice to add to your cooking, it helps raise your matabolisim rate.
NEGATIVE CALORIE FOODS - are foods, that when eaten, your body burns up more calories then it takes in. In other words, negative calorie foods actually help you lose weight, while feeling full.
Negative calorie fruits include apples, apricots, bananas, blueberries, cantaloupe, cranberries, grapefruit, honeydew, limes, lemon, mango, oranges, peaches, raspberries, strawberries, tangerines, tomatoes,
Negative calorie vegetables include asparagus, beets, broccoli, green cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chile peppers, cucumber, garlic, green beans, lettuce, onions, pickles, leeks, mushrooms, radishes, spinach, turnip, zucchini,
