I Felt the Earth Move!
Just a few minutes after I got home and set my laptop on my study table... I was browsing the net when I felt something really wierd. I thought at first I felt really woozy, I thought I got dizzy and coming up with something. I felt that I can't seem to keep my upper body steady while I was sitting! At first I thought something is messing with my equilibrium that I can't see to balance my self. Though I haven't got it yet, the thought of my blood pressure going high came into my mind).
I stopped what I was doing and turned on my desk lamp (I usually turn off the room's main light to reduce the glare). I realized it wasn't me... or it wasn't just me. The whole room was shaking. Not violently but rather it's more like swaying. the feeling that you are on a boat and the waves would gently rock the boat from left to right! Gentle but I felt my self swaying on the chair... and for crying out loud I am about 1 and a half kilometer from the seashore and I am on a solid ground! There's no doubt what I felt was a very strong Earthquake! It's the strongest one I felt so far! I walked out of the house. My brother's workers who were staying on their make shift bunk house told me that they felt the quake too. Actually the earth was still shaking while I was talking with them and I can see the post and the bamboo fence move. Geesh this quake is really the strongest that I felt in my entire life!
I went back in and check the web for some info. It was a 7.9 Magnitude quake east of Sulangan, Philippines. Which is more or less 500 kilometers from I'm at.
Though this is a very strong quake, the epicenter was not any of the 7,100 islands of the country. I hope and pray that no or minimal damage was done and hopefully, no tsunami will follow.
