Which Oven Rack Do You Bake a Cake On?

Delicious and moist cakes require proper baking. It is not only important to mix all the ingredients together right, but to bake the cake on the right oven rack. Using the right oven rack for baking a cake is certain to have the cake come out just perfect for that special occassion or just for enjoying a nice desert.

 

It is best to use the middle oven rack when you bake a cake. The top rack will cause the cake to brown too quickly before the center is done. This creates an almost crispy texture to the cake. Even if you are icing the cake it might not taste as good as if you use the middle oven rack to bake a cake.

 

The bottom rack will do like the top one. The cake will bake too quickly on the bottom and become crunchy. If you flip the cake out of the pan to ice it, the crumb layer will be thicker if you bake the cake on the bottom layer. You'll end up with a huge mess to try and ice the cake with.

 

Ideally, it is best to use the middle oven rack to bake a cake. This will ensure that the cake cooks evenly and consistently throughout to give you a moist, delicious cake that is easy to ice, easy to serve and delicious to eat.
