Although chesterfield sofas enjoy a reputation for class and sophistication, they are relatively hard to find in the media.
Perhaps the most famous chesterfield sofa is the one supposedly used by Sigmund Freud. Many experts believe that Freud used a chesterfield sofa to sit his patients down during hypnotherapy sessions. In one famous scene, Arthur and Ford become sofas and are matching white and brown leather chesterfield sofas that speak using their cushions as mouths. Each is adorned with two small cushions, in the colours that the character was wearing, which give the sofa the shape of a face.
