As a mom, I always love to make something special for my kids especially during Easter celebration. This celebration of the commercial side of Easter is what our kids have been waiting for the whole year. They are so excited for Easter egg hunting, feasting, candies, cakes, foods and decorating. That is why we should always be prepared for this day to come ahead of time.

We have so many cute Easter dessert ideas and choices like No Bake Cheesecake. However, today we will be making the deliciously sweet and colorful Easter petits fours for the kids. I'm sure they will really like it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ¼ cup of sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 ¼ cups of all-purpose flour
  • 3 egg yolks
  • ¾ cup of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 2 ½ cups of frosting (for the petits fours)
  • 6 tablespoons of melted butter

Follow these very simple and easy directions:

  1. Prepare your oven and preheat it to 340 to 350 °F or 170 to 175 °C. Grease and then flour a jellyroll pan (preferably 10X15 in size).
  2. Get a large glass bowl and beat the egg yolks and eggs with electric mixer. Add the sugar and properly beat it for up to 10 minutes or until it is pale and thick enough (or if a stand mixer is available, use its whisk attachment).
  3. Sift the baking powder and the flour into the egg mixture and carefully fold in the milk. Stir until the batter is mixed thoroughly and fold in your melted butter until it is smooth. Evenly spread the batter on your prepared pan.
  4. Bake it for 14 to 16 minutes in your preheated oven (tips: bake it until a toothpick that is inserted into the center comes out and it's clean). When you are done, invert your cake pan to sheets of clean waxed paper, and let it cool. This will give you nice even Easter petits fours.
  5. If it's cool already, cut the cake into small equal squares or rectangles and arrange each piece in rows on a glazing screen with adequate space between the rows or wire rack. Set rack over waxed paper or shallow pan in order to catch drips.
  6. Pour the warmed petit or spoon icing on the small cakes. (Note: If you have drippings, it can be scraped off your paper or pan and use again after reheating). Let your petits fours set until it is dry completely.
  7. Use a metal spatula to lift the cakes from your rack and trim its bottom edges using a sharp knife. Set them in small muffin papers for the kids to handle them easily and decorate it the way you like.
  8. Serve it now to your kids and their friends. I am sure they can't wait to taste these delicious Easter petits fours you made for them.
  9. Indeed, making these cute Easter dessert ideas is really fun. I hope you enjoy this celebration together with your kids, friends, and family.
