Well, how about Mexican Crullers, (also known as Churros) can be one of the best dessert recipes that you can cook and serve to your family and loved ones and they are fast and easy to make also. It is the most famous pastry delicacy in Mexico. How is it cooked? The cinnamon-dusted dough is typically deep-fried. This is the equivalent of doughnuts, but Churros are unfilled Mexican cream puff.

Churros are made up of eggs without yeast or baking powder. The dough is typically cooked in the stovetop and is shaped afterwards. The usual shape is a long roll, but you can try other shapes just like what I did previously.

I created rose-shaped churros to make it more appealing and enticing to eat. A food that is served plainly might not be so appreciated by your guests. If you present it beautifully and interesting, your guests will adore it and will enjoy munching on it that much more than just plainly.

This recipe can also be served during your Cinco de Mayo celebrations. Cinco de Mayo recipes are usually the foods that Mexicans introduced in the food industry, and this dish is a delicacy from Mexico.

Mexican Crullers (Churros) Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of water
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 5 eggs 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup of white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • Canola oil

Preparation:

  1. In a medium size saucepan, put 1 cup of water in a boil. Add white sugar, vanilla, butter, and salt. Stir every now and then until the edges of the liquid starts to bubble.
  2. Mix the flour and stir vigorously to mix it well. Make sure that there will be no lumps of the flour on the mixture.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat. Add 5 eggs (one at a time). Beat it well after each egg has been added. The dough should be soft and glossy.
  4. Scrape the dough to a pastry bag.
  5. In a deep skillet, pour at least 2 inches depth of canola oil. Put it on a medium heat. Once the oil is already hot, spoon batter into pastry bag fitted with large star tip. Pipe it on the hot canola oil (about 4 inches long ribbons in a rose shape) and allow it to slide on the oil. Do not put too much batter. Overcrowding might result in mushy crullers.
  6. Fry the crullers until golden brown. Each side of the crullers should be fried.
  7. Drain the fried crullers in a paper towel.
  8. Place the brown sugar and cinnamon in a paper bag. Mix it well. Place few crullers and shake until the crullers are coated with the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  9. You can put chocolate syrup on top of the crullers to add enticing flavor.

Serve and enjoy!
