RedGage Money-Maker Memo 7:
Market Yourself!
Unfortunately, views don't grow on trees! Just like finding a job or selling a product, we have to market our content. It is our responsibility to show people what we want them to view. I realize that it can be discouraging when we don't have as many page views as we would like. When we think about all of the content that is on RedGage (and beyond), we have to remind ourselves that our work can get lost easily! Amazing content and large social networks can help, but in the end we still need to push our work to the top.
Our job as creators is to promote our work and market ourselves! We don't have to wear a sandwich board and run around the neighborhood with a megaphone in order to bring views to your content. We just have to let people know where to look and make it easy for them. Luckily, there are a variety of ways we can do this.
1. Promote your new work! Announce when you have uploaded something you think people will enjoy. Copy and paste the shortest link to your content page by using the share this button.

Use this link to paste into an email, a RedGage status, a Facebook status or a Twitter status! Don't just tell people you have new uploads- make it easy for them to view and include the URL.

The Broadcast Tool can do this for you automatically, if you choose to set it up under your tools tab. You can always use the good old copy and paste straight from the 'Share This' drop down bar. Don't forget you can always send someone to your profile page (www.redgage.com/username ) if you want them to see more than one specific page.
2. Treat yourself like a brand. Just like any other business, company, or product it is important to create an image. Here are a few ways to work on 'branding' your online image:
-Create a watermark for your photos. People can have tag-lines and logos too! Show patterns with your content and work on creating a niche. Whether you end your videos with the same animated logo or you start your blogs with a quote from a movie. Give your viewers something consistent that makes you recognizable.
-Try to make your work 'new and improved' - never stop improving the quality of your work
-Change your profile image once in a while to keep your image fresh
-Give your viewers a little information on your profile or a share an introduction blog. Make it personal so that you can connect with your audience.
3. Highlight your best work. Either create a 'My Favorites' or 'My Best Work' collection that draws your viewers to your highest quality content. If you have over a handful of uploads, sometimes users can get distracted before they even view the material that they would enjoy! Hook the viewer in during the first few moments they arrive to your profile page. You could also make a blog with links to all of your favorite material. That way you only have one link to guide people to all of your personal favorites and you create an index to your best content.
4. Ask active RedGage users to give you feedback . If you need some constructive criticism or you are wondering which of your photos you should frame for a family member, ask a RedGager for some advice. Respond to the people who have commented on your content or wall posts and ask them to lend a helping hand. Two advantages: new views and new ideas.
5. It is all in the details. Make your titles something you would want to look at. Think about making a news headline for your content. Titles that are simple with descriptions that give the viewer an idea of what is in store for them can engage a user to click. The thumbnail and the title are your first chance to attract a view. Also, don't forget your tags! Your content will not end up in RedGage search results if you do not have appropriate tags. Help people find your content when they are looking for it!
