RedGage Tutorial: Collections

For the first time, you can mix up your material and organize different types of content into the same collections.  Collections will allow you to group your content in any way that you see relevant.

For example, let us say that you want to create a collection on your recent trip to Europe.  Quite like a photo album, you can put all of your Europe photos together so that you (and your friends and family) can find them.  Beyond that, you can add links that helped you plan your trip and a photo of your favorite European meal!  Your Europe photos, blogs, links, documents, and videos can be in one convenient collection.

Categorizing content will not only help you archive your material but it will allow other people to view your content with ease. By sorting your work into relevant themes, dates and events, users with similar interests will be more likely to find what they are looking for while they browse.

The collections can be found on your profile page.  Only the last two collections will be displayed, but by clicking ‘View All’ or the Collections Icon on your profile page you can see a list of your current collections.

How to make a Collection:

1)      Click the ‘Collections’ icon above your profile photo

2)    Create a Collection:  Click the ‘Create’ tab and enter your information (collection title, tags, description).  If you want the collection to have a thumbnail photo, you can upload a photo also.  Make sure to click the ‘Save’ button each time you edit your collection description.  You can edit or remove collections with the buttons listed next to the collection titles

3)    Adding Content to a Collection:  Once you have made the collection there are two ways to add material to that collection.  One way is to go to your list of collections and click ‘Edit’ next to the collection you want to add content to.  You will see a drop down box that displays the content titles of any of your content that is not in a collection yet.  Choose the titles that you want in that collection and click the ‘Add’ button.   The pieces of content in that collection will start to show up in a list.

If you are trying to move multiple pieces of content, the most efficient way to move content is through the Default Collection.  Whenever your content is not in a specific collection, it can be found in your Default Collection.  Once you see the list of content that is not in a collection, you can move each piece of content with the drop down bars next to the title.  You will see that you can choose from any of the collections you have created and choose where to place your material.  Moving content from one collection to another can be done with the drop down bars.

We can’t wait to view your collections!
