"Coffee Filter Butterflies" by KinderArt
Every week or so, my daughter and I pick a project which has a really good looking picture included, and try to duplicate the project to match the picture. Our newest project was coffee filter butterflies found on KinderArt.com:http://www.kinderart.com/crafts/butterfly.shtml
We gathered all the materials. The markers are not the washable type.
We colored and wet the coffee filters, according to the instructions. They dried quickly lying flat in the sun.
I squished them in the middle. My seven year old found this difficult; truthfully, so did I.
The finished project. I found it difficult to fluff the wings so it looked like the picture. In conclusion, if I did this over again, I would use bigger coffee filters and limit the marker choices to pastels. We used all the colors, from black to yellow, and the black ran into the other colors, darkening the whole project. Also, I would use shorter pipe cleaners to make shorter antennae. This project has potential to look like the picture, if done with a little more TLC. It’s not a project which can be rushed.Leave your own coffee filter experiences in the comments below!
