Becoming a Successful Blogger
Being a successful blogger is one of the best ways to make a healthy part time or full time income on the internet today. There are many that simply do it for the joy of writing and expressing themselves and then there are those that take it more seriously and see it as a means of personal income generation.
If you fall under the second category, then there are a variety of ways you can achieve the goals you have set out for yourself. But first you must view your blogging for what it is, a business. Just like with any business if you don’t have a plan of action then you will most likely not achieve your goals.
Before you even begin to start writing, you should decide on where you are going to post your blogs and who you are going to cater them to. There are a wide variety of blog hosting websites out there today. Some pay their members for their work and some do not.
Personally, I enjoy writing, but if I have the option of getting paid for what I enjoy then I am going to go that route 100% of the time.
I have done extensive searching online and have come up with a list of about 5-10 websites that I currently have my blogs posted on. I came up with this list based on the fact that they pay the best and they have the best community/format for hosting my blogs on. I have also begun to make my own blogging sites using Google Ad Sense to monetize the site, so that is another option as well, but I believe diversification is key. By having your blogs in more places, you can get more “free traffic” as you build your web presence and you can ultimately move all of your blogs over to one or two specific places later on down the road if you so choose.
I don’t want to spam outside links in this post, so if you are interested in learning about these blog hosting options , please leave me a message or comment and I will work with you on getting setup on these sites and how to best succeed with them.
Once you have decided where you are going to host your blogs, you can then decide on what kind of writer you want to be. I assume that since you are serious about blogging, you have a basic level of writing skill so content is not really an issue that you need to worry too much about. Personally, I put bloggers into 2 categories – quantity or quality. If you are a quantity blogger, then you are probably going to be writing at least one new post a day between 300-500 words and not going into an in depth topic. If you are a quality blogger, then you might only write one blog a week, but it is going to be long and in depth. Quantity bloggers will most likely see a lower amount of overall views on their individual posts than the quality bloggers will, but their volume makes up for it.
I enjoy being a quantity blogger, because it is easy for me to come up with topics and spurt out a thought or opinion in 20-30 minutes and share it, but to each their own.
There is of course more involved in the overall process, but I feel that those are the basic concepts that one needs to go through in order to begin blogging seriously and everything else will be learned and fall into place along the way.
All the best and much success to you!
