COCOA MARBLE CAKE

• 1/3 cup butter,
• 1 cup sugar,
• 1 egg,
• ½ cup milk,
• 1 teaspoon vanilla,
• 2 cups flour,
• 2 teaspoons baking powder,
• 3 tablespoons cocoa powder.

Cream the butter, add sugar, vanilla and egg; beat thoroughly, then add flour mixed with the baking powder, and milk, alternately, until all added. Transfer one-third of the mixture to another bowl and add the cocoa. Drop the white and brown mixtures in spoonfuls into two 8" deep pans, and bake about forty minutes in moderate oven (350F).
