Although I am the most inexperienced high school student when it comes to relationships, I have some very solid advice to give you. When I was a freshmen I was extremely scared to talk to girls. They seemed like scary ghosts to me. After reading probably over 1,000 pages regarding attraction i've learned the most effective techniques. I'm going to be perfectly honest, I barely use any of these. I'm still in a position in my life where dating isn't a high priority right now. If you're the same way continue to read, because you can still use these when you feel like your time has come.

Note: This guide is for guys who are shy, not for those who are extroverted. If you are not shy these tips will seem too passive and overly redundant

Make Yourself known to her

Easier said than done I know. If you're absurdly shy start by asking to borrow something (yes this is lame, but it's a start).  Next ask her for help on an assignment. Make sure to space the time out between these two or else she may see through your passiveness.

Say hi to her in the hallway, but don't do it multiple times. She may feel weird the first time, and you may feel awkward as well, but then the next couple of times when she walks in the hallway and sees you she'll wonder why you didn't say hello. Believe me this works. If you let the girl feel like she is the dominant one in the relationship then you will have no chance at all at even going on a date with her.

Remember to look her directly into the eyes

A person won't be able to tell what your favourite colour is, favourite artist or band, the name of your dog or parents, and what you did last night just by looking at your eyes. It can however represent your level of confidence and self worth, which are VITAL when it comes to attracting girls. If you can't hold eye contact with a girl for even a second, what does that say about you? That you're too scared to even look a girl in the eyes?

Here's a tip; the most common trouble people have when making eye contact is that they don't know where to look. That's easy to solve; just look into her left eye. It is scientifically proven that when you look into someone in their left eye, the signals will be sent to the right side of their brain which deals with emotions. Not only does science prove it, but looking into her left eye gives you a singular target to focus on.

Social Proof is very important to high school girls

Yes, this is very superficial and is the most horrible part of high school. She is not going to even think about dating you if her friends don't like you or don't know you. Try seeking out her most desperate friend and talking to her on facebook. If she start to have feelings for you then say you'd love to hook her up with one of your friends when he gets back in town.

Popularity matters in the mind of almost every girl. If you don't hang out with people she thinks are interesting or witty, then you will have no chance at dating her either. They don't have to be "popular", but they do need to be people who she would enjoy talking to

Attitude

Attitude is everything. You need to be witty, interesting, and cocky when you talk to this girl. This is the easiest way to get her to have feelings for you. This is really hard to do for shy guys ( I know!), but try watching a ton of stand up comedy, it'll help a lot. During the summer of my sophomore year I watched 20 hours of stand up comedy in 1 week, and then suddenly everyone around me told me how funny I was for about a month. Eventually my cynicism came back and I was no longer funny, but maybe you'll be able to hold in your funny bone.
