Daylight Savings Time and Where is Spring?  It’s at my house.

Don’t forget that Daylight Savings Time is March 14th.  This is the day that we run all our clocks “up” one hour.  It also means that spring is creeping up on us.  Remember the old saying when it comes to Daylight Savings Time, “Spring Ahead and Fall Back”.  This is to remind us how to set our clocks when it is finally time to adjust them.

What date does spring official begin?  March 20, 2010 and it’s only a few weeks away.  I don’t need my calendar to tell me that spring is almost here.  I know it’s just around the corner because my daffodils are all in full bloom.  They are beautiful.  My daffodils are the first of my spring flowers to show their pretty faces every spring and they are always right on time.  It always amazes me that each flower bulb that I have planted over the years always know just when it’s their time to be born again and peep their sleepy heads out of their earth beds and smile at the world again.  There have been past times that they have bloomed with snow on the ground, but not this time.

It was a beautiful spring-like day yesterday and it was the first day that I have worked in my flower beds this year.  It’s my joy in life to tend to my flower beds.  I love pulling weeds.  I love raking the leaves out of them that accumulated over the winter.  I love digging and getting my hands dirty although I do wear gloves because sometimes I find a sticker or briar hiding in them.  I feed them and water them and watch them smile at the sunshine and I think they even smile at me.  Even the birds were happy as I worked in the flower beds.  They were singing their little heads off as I dug in the dirt and pulled the weeds.  Maybe they were hoping that I would find something hiding in the earth that would make a good meal for them.

Hooray, spring is March 20, 2010, just a few days away and my daffodils have arrived.  I sure am tired of cold weather, so Hooray again for spring!
