Cocktail Franks Pigs in a Blanket

Cocktail Franks Pigs in a Blanket

Most people just love these at cocktail parties, or those wonderful Game Day and Super Bowl Parties.  Especially the guys.

I know I sent some of these along with other appetizers home with my sons' gf the other night and she told me her Dad grabbed one and then searched the plate for all that there were.  Guys just love these and they are too easy to make at home instead of buying the ready made frozen ones that are incredibly expensive in my opinion.

You'll need

1 lb. package of Lil' Smokes or other cocktail franks. You have a choice in this item as you can get the regular which are a mix of beef, pork and turkey or chicken, or the all beef. I've even seen them come in a cheese variety which is nice also for a change.

1 tube of refrigerated breadstick dough (Pillsbury or store brand)

Remove the franks from the packaging and let them dry a bit as they are packed with liquid, and if they are too 'wet' it will make wrapping them a little more difficult.  Separate your breadsticks (there were 12 in my package) and flatten each one lengthwise and sideways (I work one at a time), then slice the dough into 3 or 4 pieces. Simply wrap one of the pieces of dough onto each cocktail frank and place it seam side down on a baking sheet.

When all your pieces are done, you get about 36-40 pieces. I bake them according to the instructions on the breadstick package, about 15 minutes at 375 degrees, but you want to watch them as the baking time nears, as the bottoms tend to cook faster and can burn a bit.

Serve these as is or with some flavored mustards or dips or melted cheese dip and you have a winner on your hands, no matter what your Team does that day.

Thanks everyone. Since I found the easy way to make these, you can find them much more often at my house. My teen just loves them and can just about finish all 40 himself!
