Alvarez MF80C Acoustic Guitar Review

Alvarez MF80C Acoustic Guitar Review - Alvarez MF80C

Guitar Features:

The Alvarez MF80C has definitely stepped up the intermediate priced guitar features a few notches. I really like the features on this understated yet quality constructed guitar.

With the addition of an Englemann Solid Spruce top, this guitar now starts to measure up to higher priced guitars such as the Martins and Gibson's. Englemann is one of my favorites as you get a very warm and deep sound while receiving tremendous volume.

Tuners of the Alvarez MF80C are gold plated die cast construction and seem to be very  solid and smooth, without any play.

Personally I don't like stained Rosewood for the fingerboard. I prefer honesty of materials and if you use Rosewood, make it look Rosewood - not Ebony.

Another thing I REALLY like about Alvarez MF80C is the use of solid Maple bindings. It looks very professional and I know from experience that this does give better sound production.

Dislikes: No pickguard. I like the look and if you just fingerpick that will be ok. If you use a flatpick however, you will absolutely need a pickguard. I would choose a wooden one. See my article on Pickguards.

Sound Production: 8.0

I love the sound of the  Alvarez MF80C. Or putting it more directly, I just love Englemann Spruce for tonewood. The guitar has a very balanced warm tone with lots of volume.

Also, the solid Mahogany gives this guitar that typical quality solid woody tone that I love to hear. Rest assured that as the years go by , this guitar will get better and better, as solid wood guitars always do.
