Why You Should Dry Brush Your Skin

Dry brushing is simply great for you and your skin. It stimulates your immune system, your circulatory system, and your lymphatic system from the inside out! It is easy, feels great, and best of all, it’s darn near free! All you need is a natural soft bristle brush, loofah or the like. You can even use a fairly coarse wash cloth if you prefer.

Here’s what dry brushing can do for you:

  1. Exfoliate your skin, leaving it glowing and clear.
  2. Help moisturize your skin by stimulating natural oil production.
  3. Tone your skin and help it look more youthful.
  4. Help reduce cellulite.
  5. Increase muscle tone.
  6. Stimulate your lymphatic system.
  7. Stimulate your circulatory system.
  8. Help your central nervous system perform better.
  9. Boost your immune system.
  10. Encourage efficient digestion.

Here’s how you do it:

  • Starting with the soles of your feet, brush in small, vigorous circles. You may want to use a small, coarse bristled brush for this.
  • Change brushes or not (as you like) and brush up your legs in sweeping strokes. Brush straight up over your hips or in a circular motion.
  • Brush your stomach in a clockwise, circular motion.
  • Brush your breasts or chest lightly.
  • Brush the palms of your hands in small, vigorous circles.  Again, you may wish to use a smaller, stiffer brush for this.
  • Brush up your arms in long strokes.
  • Brush up your neck toward your face gently.
  • Brush your shoulders and the back of your neck in gentle circles.
  • Brush your back with a long handled brush.

You may also want to purchase a special, very soft facial brush for your face. If you do, it will come with complete instructions for use.

As soon as you finish brushing, take a shower or bath to wash away all the dry, dead skin you have loosened. Follow up with a natural moisturizer.

You should feel great after this treatment! Of course, you won’t see all the benefits of skin brushing instantly, but keep it up. Within a month of daily practice, you should see visible changes in your skin and muscle tone. You will probably also feel more energetic. Within a few months, you will surely see some improvements in your overall health.
