How I Found The Best Free Alarm Clock Online

Free online alarm clock software beats this any day!

I have always had trouble sleeping if I know I am going to have to get up at a certain time. I spend the night sleeping fitfully and checking my alarm clock frequently to see how much time I have left. Invariably, I just drift off into a deep sleep a few minutes before the alarm clock blares. This starts my day off badly every day and keeps me sleep deprived.

One of the things I have enjoyed most about working at home as a freelance writer is being able to make my own schedule. For a long time, I simply slept when I wanted to and for as long as I wanted and worked when I was awake. Unfortunately, though, the rest of the world is still on a schedule and the early bird still gets the worm. I found that most of the good writing jobs online are available in the morning. So I decided to see if I could find an online alarm clock that would give me some options in waking up.

In the past, I had tried using an alarm clock that would play a CD at the time I wanted to get up, but I found it was just too easy to sleep through this. I wanted to find something that would play a sound that would wake me up without jarring my system. I found Free Alarm Clock Online:

I originally found this free software as the top rated online alarm clock offering from CNET, which is a website I trust. I felt safe to download it and have had no problems with it. I really like this software because it is very easy to set and to understand. It has a completely intuitive, user-friendly interface and a complete and thorough HELP page on its website.

It took a little bit of experimentation to come up with just the right combination of alarms to allow me to sleep peacefully without dreading the sound and to wake me up sufficiently to get up and turn off the alarm. Luckily, Free Alarm Clock has a generous offering of sounds including three standard alarm sounds, a couple of options in bells, a cuckoo clock, sirens, phone ringing, flute music, birds and a couple more.

First I tried flute music, which did not wake me up at all. Then I tried birds, which startled me but was easy to ignore and sleep through. Then I tried a cuckoo clock, which was also surprisingly easy to sleep through. Finally, I hit upon the idea of doing a series of alarms, so here’s what I did. I set four separate alarms and ended up with 15 minutes of flute music, 15 minutes of birds, 15 minutes of phone ringing and finally a more or less gentle alarm sound.

With this combination of alarms, I am stirred by the flute music, awakened a little more by the birds, awakened more fully by the phone ringing, and if that doesn’t get me out of bed, finally I am confronted with the alarm! With this gradual awakening, I do not dread the alarm so I am able to sleep well without checking my clock frequently. I am really happy with this software and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a creative free alarm clock solution.
