Some Of The Best Friends Are The Ones We Never Meet
Do you realize that some of the best friends that you have are the ones that you never meet? They are the ones that are concerned when you are MIA (missing in action).You can go to them for advice, value their opinions and hope that all is well with them at home. You can see many of their faces and for others you can see their character through their avatars. By reading their articles you can sense their thoughts, feelings, emotions and desires. Clicking on a keyboard you are expressing yourself without even holding a vocal conversation. Your mind creates their voices based on the words that are projected to you, from the screen. You look forward to their comments, you understand their emotions and you may even get an e-mail or two as they have become your best friend.
The Internet is amazing as it brings those together from all over the world in a matter of mille-seconds. When it crashes we feel lost, dazed and confused as we do not know what is happening to our new found friendships and we find ourselves concerned about the well-being of the person on the other side of the computer screen. Many of us become joined at the hip, and find our new friendships to be more exciting, then hanging out with some of our best buddies that we have known for years.
What is it that intrigues us about these new found friendships? Is it that , they are great listeners and give advice? Is it that we as human have a need for stimulation that we aren't receiving? Is it that we can communicate with them effectively and we can be ourselves, without any repercussions of someone stomping away, in a rage, or just not listening to us at all? I believe it is all of the above and even more. Friendship is not about having to meet that person or persons', it is about having things in common with others, being able to give honest advice and really having someone take the time to listen. As we sit behind the keyboard, we are all human, our heart beats, our minds think, we have emotions, we have feelings. Some of us more creative, then the next person, others more musically inclined, but we are people looking for recognition and friendships that others will not understand. We are all aspiring to be someone great, someone recognized and in the same time we are building friendships and bonding with those who will listen, acknowledge and understand who we are, as every human needs stimulation. We find ourselves defending those that we do not know,as we see the other side of the keyboard attack, or step away as they move onto their next target. We see ourselves giving a (((hug)))) to a stranger we do not even know as we are compassionate about the words that they have written. We *wink* to let them know that they are o.k. in our book, without ever seeing them. We laugh, without ever hearing their voices,but their expression and words stimulates our minds and in the end we send smiles to let them know how much we appreciate them. These are our friends, our Internet friends that we to have grown to love and admire just as much as our friends we have known for years.
