Honor Thy Mother
This is one of the most beautiful scriptures in the bible and maybe much more meaningful to me as I dearly miss her. She was getting very ill at this point 6 years ago and I remember her crying because she could not get any food down. The rest of us lost our appetite as mom tried so hard to swallow the food but finally conceded tearfully to a chair in the living room in despair to the reality of the end of life on this planet approaching.
I left the table and went and sat with her and helplessly hugged her to show her I was there for the long haul and wasn't eating anything either. It was a solemn Mother's Day and none of us seven siblings had an appetite or any profound words to say, just the most fitting words, "I love you mom".....Love you kids too" ..
Later everyone quietly left with that all knowing look of , it's just a matter of time so keep us posted. I did and the following night everyone was called back as mom could not get out of bed anymore without falling. We all gathered for the duration of the walk together with mom down the Via Dolorosa of dread and grey turned into grey. Days turned into nights and everything became one long day as she labored to live here just a little longer but God was calling her to the party and she finally conceded. Oh, How she loved her children and grandchildren, and let everyone know how much she loved them.
The peace and grace of God is not even explainable at this point nor shall it ever be but like Paul, I can say, "His grace is sufficient".....Happy Mother's Day mom! and do a little Hokey Pokey for me until we meet again and dance like we've never danced!
