The noon whistle in my town just went off. It's a block away from here and it's LOUD! I think noon whistles started when small towns had a lot of people working at the same factories and stuff, and it signaled time for lunch break. I think that's it, but not sure. Anyway, I don't understand why some small towns still have them. Is it just a nostalgia thing? Does anybody know more about noon whistles? Do they have one in your town?
