The Spixworth Sentinel

Well folks on Redgage, this is to update you on what I’ve been doing since Easter and why I’ve gone back onto Triond. You may have noticed that I’d been putting up links to my Triond articles for some while, and since I’ve had my new camera I’d been putting up some photos, but I found I was becoming frustrated with the limited tags and photo info that I could put onto Redgage and I wasn’t particularly impressed with how the photos came out as they didn’t show to their best advantage so I decided to try submitting photos via Triond rather than just articles and was really pleased with the results.   I wasn’t limited as to how many tags I could put onto my photos and I could happily type a long description rather than just a few words.  In fact, so far, I haven’t worked out just how much text I can type in so there’s every possibility that it may not have any restrictions at all.  I was equally pleased with the quality of the photos compared to Redgage.  They’re published onto the Picable website and they’re so beautifully clear and larger than the Redgage ones!  It annoys me too that I can't put apostrophes into my descriptions etc which, to my mind, as a relatively intelligent English speaker, makes me look a complete moron. As soon as my photos have been checked out by Triond and placed onto Picable, Triond send me an email letting me know and giving me the URL for the photo.  I can then go onto the contents section of Triond and I have the option, via a drop down menu, of promoting my work on Reddit, Digg, Linkedin, SheToldMe etc without going through the rigmarole of having to copy and paste in the URL as it’s already set up. Right from the start I’ve had the option on Triond of automatically sending my URLs to Twitter and Facebook as soon as it’s published, with no intervention from me and I’m able to receive money from Google AdSense for everything I publish via Triond.  As time goes on I seem to be earning more from my Google ads than I do from Triond!! Payment to me by Triond is so simple and it’s regular  They just wait until I’ve got around $0.50 and then it goes straight into my PayPal account on the 10th of each month.  No hanging around waiting to reach $25; no awkward to use debit cards; no expiry dates like you have with debit cards.  In fact, no hassle at all!!! My profile page on Triond is far superior to that on Redgage.  Again, I feel so frustrated by the restriction on what I can paste in on my “status” section of Redgage, but I can put masses and masses of text onto my profile page on Triond updating my friends on what I’ve been doing and it shows my “badges” which indicate how many articles/photos/videos etc I’ve published and how many viewers I’ve had but Joe Public isn’t privy to what earnings I’ve made so there’s no “greed factor” involved – who’s made the most money!!! My dashboard gives me an amazing amount of information.  I can see how many viewers I’ve had on a daily basis and what articles/photos they’ve looked at; I can see my earnings both from Triond and from Google; I have details of the number of views, comments and articles I’ve had published each day and the total number for that month; I have a “news feed” which gives me details of what my friends on Triond have published; there’s a “visit trends” graph which gives me details of how many viewers I’ve had during the month which is updated on a daily basis.  For instance, II can see that on 18th April I received  my highest number of viewers and my lowest number on the 8th.  There’s then an interesting table showing me which search engines etc are bringing me the most viewings each month.  I can instantly see that Google are a major source of my viewings, particularly Google.com, Google.uk, and Google.ca.  I then received a fair number of viewings via Bing.com.  There then follows a pie chart which tells me where in the world my viewers live.  This month, I’ve received 34% from the US, 37% from the UK, 13% from China, 6% from Australia, 3% from France, 3% from Canada and 3% from Germany All in all, I find it much more professional and user friendly, particularly for writing.  At the moment I’m not getting too many viewings for my pictures alone on Picable but I’m going to try and put links to these in a Spixworth Sentinel blog which I’ll publish on Triond. Another major gripe I have with Redgage is that I don’t get an awful lot of choice when it comes to a picture to set off my article links, and the majority of them don’t really relate to what my article is all about.  Triond give me so many options it’s sometimes difficult to choose which one I want!! Once I’ve done a Spixworth Sentinel blog I plan to do a separate blog for all you guys on Redgage giving you links to my articles, recipes and photos combined and then you can decide what floats your boat and what doesn’t and click away!! So, here’s to the “rebranding of Jackie118”!!!!!
