Why most women want to reach the beauty standard ?
If men would admire and desire only one type of women, competition between men could reach huge dimensions. Such a model, frequently promoted, might narrow the horizon of individuals and make them ignore their options. Even so, advertising and marketing is pushing various beauty standards ahead. After the elite and trendsetters adopt a particular standard, many, if not most, will adopt it also.
Therefore, an ally in promoting the ideal beauty model is the very nature of man and his ability to imitate others. Few will be those who will depart from the trend, perhaps because of fear for their exclusion.
Diversity could mean harmony. The fact that everyone is different, feels different, and behaves differently creates alternatives to others. Standardization could cancel the variety, support alienation, and damage harmony.
In many scenarios today, society distorts reality by suggesting that compliance with a beauty standard is an ideal of social achievement. Under the dictatorship of commercial advertising, the body seems to become a fashion accessory. Day by day, aggressive advertising promotes ideal models of beauty. However, the ongoing effort to conform to these beauty or fashion standard and trends will generate and increase frustration among many.
Most people tend to avoid responsibility for their decisions. This weakness was always quite common among people. They feel safer letting others make decisions for them. Even if they never clearly express their expectations or interests, they imagine that those who are making the decisions will consider their wishes and interests.
The same happens when it comes to beauty and ideal models. Since it is far easier to have some guidelines, we could consider that many people are asking for models. Many people feel it’s hard to make important choices alone. The fear of being ridiculed or rejected by others causes them to choose standards widely used.
Therefore, it is no surprise that many are happy when standard choices are available around us. It might be convenient to have choices on how to live, what clothes to buy, what car to buy, or what kind of hairstyle to adopt. People prefer models to remove uncertainty. Even so, the standards will not help too much when fighting against anonymity or trying to be more special.
People, especially teens, try to stand out in a crowd. Because of their desire to attract attention from us, we intentionally wear dull clothes, strange haircuts, or adopt all sorts of jargon in our speech. Most of us attempt by our own means to impress others.
On the other hand, many might ridicules, exclude, or marginalize people who deviate too much from existing standards. Fear of failure inhibits many from making decisions that might make them live by their own standards. Few will have the courage to come forward and make their own choices and decisions. Moreover, many, from the ones who come forward become our models of successful women.
