Hawaii Holidays - Which Island
The 6 Hawaiian islands each offer the opportunity to experience something different on a Hawaiian holiday. So what are the main options?
Big Island - A diverse range of landscapes can be witnessed here from snow-capped mountains to sandy beaches and tropical forest. The main resorts are Puna, Hilo, Kailu Village, The Kohala Coast and Waimea. The main attraction is the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park where the most active volcano in the world, Kilauea, may be visited. Over 150 miles of hiking trails exist along with the option to golf or visit the botanical gardens.
Oahu - Surfing and the famous Waikiki Beach are here along with popular resorts is Honolulu, Kahala and the Leeward Coast. The many attractions include the Pearl Harbour memorial site, the Waikiki Aquarium, Honolulu Zoo and the Hanauma Bay Preserve. Also kayak, dance in a club, visit the botanical gardens and live music shows.
Kauai - 50 miles of beach are enough for any beach lover and sun worshiper with the most famous stretch at Poipu Beach. The Waimea Canyon should not be missed on this Hawaiian Island and is known as the ‘Grand Canyon of the Pacific’. Also kayak, horse ride, golf, fish, scuba dive or take a Zipline ride through the forest canopy.
Maui - The Kaanapali Beach is superb and Maui is often voted ‘Best Island’ by visitors. Championship golf courses are a highly popular whilst further tourist draws include museums, cliff diving, scuba diving, snorkeling and hiking.
Lanai - A romantic getaway for couples or honeymooners where the unspoilt wilderness can be explored by jeep. Also watch spinner dolphins and humpback whales off shore or walk the famous Munro Hiking Trail.
Molokai - With the highest sea cliffs in the world and no building taller than a coconut tree this is another unspoilt island. Also sunbathe on the 3-mile long Papohaku Beach or explore the Kalaupapa National History Park.
