US Silver coins

Collecting silver dimes can be a lot of fun! After all, with what other silver coin can you start collecting today for less than a buck?

The silver dime played a major role in the development of Unites States and has gone through numerous changes over the years. In addition to having a collectible aspect, silver dimes (and to a lesser extent wheat pennies) can be used to teach your children about our country's history.

Whether you are looking for that rare Barber dime, or that last Mercury dime to complete your collection, silver dimes are a lot of fun.

When it comes to collecting coins, the value of a coin truly is what someone is willing to pay for it.

No where is this more true than on eBay. One day you may be able to buy a super rare silver dimes for a fraction of what they are worth, while on the next day, everything is overpriced. As such, always do your due diligence and buy silver coins that you actually enjoy collecting!

Are you looking for an inexpensive way to start collecting silver coins? If so, the silver Barber dimes may just be the perfect place to start.

Minted by the US Government from 1892 to 1916, the Barber dime is made from 90% silver and 10% copper. As the price of precious metals continues to increase so do Barber dimes.

As there are a number of places where these silver coins were minted, there are a few things to look for when trying to determine where it originated. If it is stamped D, it means it was minted in Denver. Furthermore, S means San Francisco, O means New Orleans, and a stamp of P means it was minted in Philadelphia. If the coin does not have a letter indicating where it was minted, it is safe to assume it was minted in Philadelphia.
