Who was Rin Tin Tin?
Rin Tin Tin was a German Shepherd dog who became the world’s most popular animal film star. He was found as a puppy in a German trench in 1916 by a US soldier, Captain Lee Duncan.

When the war was over, Captain Duncan took the dog with him to America and he was trained by Captain Duncan for film roles. From the very beginning Rin Tin Tin was a big hit with the result that for several years to come he provided his studio, Warner Brothers with its main source of income and he was duly given top billing above that of his human co-stars.
His first film was in 1922 and his last film was in 1931 – altogether he starred in about 26 movies for Warner Brothers. Rin Tin Tin died in 1932 after an illustrious film career. On average he received about 2 000 letters from fan a week!
