Walt Disney’s most popular cartoon figure Mickey Mouse made his film debut in November 1928 in Steamboat Willie. Walt Disney used his own voice for Mickey’s high-pitched tones.
Within a year Mickey Mouse clubs had sprouted across the USA and by 1931 they had a million members. In London Madame Tussaud immortalised Mickey in wax.

In 1933 according to the Walt Disney Studios, Mickey received 800 000 fan letters – an average of about 2 000 a day!
