Make your own Ranch Dressing
Unfortunately for me, processed food has a lot of salt, MSG, and other preservatives, which can be hard for my kidneys. In 2003 I became ill with a Vasculitis disease which attacked my kidneys, reducing the function. So even though it is entirely impossible to eliminate salt from my diet (and is unhealthy besides), I have found ways to limit it by making my own recipes.
I can't call this salt-free. But I can call it salt limited.
Ranch Dressing
1 cup Mayo
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup dried buttermilk
1 teaspoon mustard (optional)
1 tablespoon of garlic powder
1 tablespoon of oregano
1 tablespooon of parsley
1/2 tsp black pepper
Water as needed
Mix mayo, sourcream, and dried buttermilk. Then add spices. Add water to thin the dressing. More water if you want to make dressing and less water if you want to make dip.
Other spices you can include for your taste: Thyme, onion powder, red bell pepper.
If you want to change it up: you can add salsa or tomatoes.
You can also drop two large spoonfuls into a pasta sauce, adding a rich taste to the sauce.
You need to use this by the end of a week especially if you use buttermilk instead of the dried variety.
The flavors pop in this dressing.
