Many reasons to celebrate this Labor Day, despite the awful labor market--Here are a few, to my mind: 

1. The health care profession seems to be thriving.  I like it that someone will care for me when I am sick.
2. The private for-profit, private non-profit, and government sectors all have their places in America.  Each sector has many honorable workers to remember on Labor Day; my late parents were good workers, to their last days.  
3. Neither unionized nor nonunion has any hold on correctness.  Hard workers populate both categories of jobs.
4. The job growth trend is positive, despite all the negative news portrayals of it.  Next week, there will be people glad to get jobs, glad to have paid work to do.  

 The glass can be seen as half-full as well as half-empty, it seems to me.  Can you think of reasons to celebrate the holiday?
