Getting the Page Numbers Right

You cannot learn book classification in a day; most librarians would probably agree to this. It’s amazing what you can do, though.

Although it would be very convenient if they did, the average household anywhere in the world doesn’t usually come with a home library.

Most people have books that they may read and collect, and at least one library card that may or may not need to be extended.

At the local bookstores, you can get a different card that gets you a maximum of 20 percent discount for stationary and books with special titles. At international bookstores, you get to purchase up to an unlimited number of new books (as long as they still have the title in stock).

The average library card holder gets to borrow two books from the public library. Add a reference book to the tab, if you are a member of the faculty or a student.

Sometimes they have promos, special stuffs for special days of the year. If the copy machine is working, the librarians let you copy one or two pages of the reference book for your research papers.

Browse for Microsoft Excel and Access ready-made templates online, and you might just become inspired. There’s a few to download to help you get started with a home library project.

However, if you go over to the Google Play market and browse for an Android application that can help you digitize your library, you can definitely find more than 1,000 apps that are ready to be used (and reviewed) for your digital library management—provided that your device actually runs on Android.

So apparently, staying connected in the digital age does change the way library patronage access libraries. The Pew Internet Research’s “Library services in the digital age” released earlier this January shows some hints.

Only 22 percent of those surveyed are saying that their library use has decreased, while 26 percent of library users are saying that their own use of local libraries has increased in the past five years. And 52 percent are saying that their use has stayed the same.

Most libraries in the United States are offering e-books, and according to The American Library Association, 28 percent of US libraries are also lending e-readers. But what do the library visitors actually feel about “renovating” our libraries?

GeekWire reported that there has been a study on that, “…a certain element of the physical library that is still important for people, especially those who lack experience with new technology or don’t own the latest gadgets.”

Of course, there are many types of gadgets that allow you to read e-books outside the library, such as the Kindle Fire, the Nook, and the iPad. You can take classes to learn how to use them, too.
