Would It Mean Something To You To Be A Millionaire?

Countless people have a dream every day to win the lottery - a large lottery.  Do you ?

What is it about the lottery that inspires so many people?

This desire can reveal a lot about a person.  A good follow-up question would be, "What do you want to do with that much money?"  Most people answer that they would like to have that problem to find out.

Would you like to have that problem?

Most would probably answer, "YES".   As it is the topic of these blogs, here is a different way of looking at it.  Do you want to do things such as go on vacation, stop working and get a new vehicle or do you want to do things such as helping your family or charity and change the world in a positive way?  (It is also possible for people to self-destruct and go into hiding).

Here are a few other considerations for those winning large amounts of money (not the $3 lottery) :

-  People generally would contact you relentlessly, so your privacy must not be a priority.

-  There are people who have committed suicide from winning the lottery.

-  Depending how much it is and what security you have, your personal safety could be at risk.

-  People you know would probably ask why they didn't receive more from you.

-  Things that seem exciting to you now would become repetitive.

-  You should get used to the fact that people in your immediate area are talking about you.

Money can be a good or a bad thing.  Despite all of these things, some will say they still would like to find out for themselves.

There is also another theory, in addition to these considerations.

If you could get whatever you wanted whenever you wanted it the value to you would start to decrease.

This is hard to relate to for most people and many would probably disagree.  Economically speaking the appeal of some things lies in the fact that they are difficult for the average person to get; i.e. a multimillion dollar home, fancy vacation or a high-priced vehicle.  If everyone could get these things regularly they would lose some of their appeal.  Things tend to lose the same appeal over a period of time.  This is likely to happen eventually, even if it does not happen right away.

For example, if you could always have a fancy tropical vacation, then a fancy tropical vacation wouldn't be as big of a deal to you over time.  Another example is that if you are always healthy it is not as big of a deal to you than if you were previously ill.

Maybe, after all, a person CAN be fulfilled in ways WITHOUT being a millionaire.
