Bubbling to the surface

As an author, I've been asked a number of times where I get ideas for my stories. It's a weird old thing this creativity. There are times when ideas come in a deluge, yet at others they seem a bit uninspired, but ideas are generally bubbling away somewhere.

Experience

I suppose experience helps them to emerge, but whatever, every single one of us has a story idea somewhere. Story concepts aren't something miraculous.... but sometimes they need a bit of encouragement to float to the surface. You might have to prompt them a little. Here are a few tips that were passed down to me years ago. They might help you to get going if you're riding a dry patch.
