Tips for writing an annotated bibliography
An annotated bibliography is described as a list of sources (journals, books, or articles) that provides information and ideas for building the content of a research paper. Under each citation, an annotation or a description is provided to evaluate the quality of the citation. A number of tips that are useful for a custom annotation assignment are available. An annotation is quite different from an abstract. An abstract is found at the beginning of a research paper while an annotation is on the reference page. Developing an annotation requires the application of a combination of the analytical skills, brief analysis as well as informed bibliography research. In short, an annotation assures the reader the relevance of the source to the research. The paper will provide the essential tips and procedures necessary for developing an annotated bibliography.

First, the writer should locate the journals, books or peer-reviewed articles that contain important ideas and information that are in line with the research topic. The writer should then review all the relevant materials and then identify the material that provides an array of perspectives on the research topic. Later on, cite the sources (books, journal or articles) using the recommended style (APA, MLA, Harvard et al.). In the next step, a succinct descriptive analysis is provided under each of the citation informing the reader about the quality of the source. The annotation begins with a sentence or two that provides the background information of the author. Next a commentary on one or two sentences is provided about the target audience. Next, the content of the source is then compared with that of another source cited in the paper. Finally, an explanation should then be provided on how the work explicates the research topic.
