About Me
I was born and raised mainly in rural towns in Maine. Years after I got out of school, I was lucky enough to reconnect with my childhood sweetheart and we married and had three kids. In the early 80s I took up poetry and soon had my first poem published, and went on to start up my own small press - publishing three poetry magazines , MEMORABLE MOMENTS, FIRESIDE POETRY REVIEW and BY INVITATION ONLY.I worked 15 years at a nuns convent, at a l;arge complex where they rented halls and meeting rooms out on a regular basis. My main jobs were setting up rooms for meetings, helping in the kitchen and being in charge of the gardens and lawns as a grounds keeper. I had a second job at the convent, setting up wakes. After 15 years of full time work, I injured my back, was told by the head nun to lie and state my injury happened outside of work, and when I refused, was fired. God bless those nuns.Growing up in Maine, we spent one week each year at my great Uncles farmstead in Northfield, Maine, and one week each year at campgrounds in acadia National Park. We often referred to THE ISLAND as our home away from home, and one day while leaving the island, heading back home, I made the comment, Why not make the island our home. My wife replied, can we do that? Three years after applying for housing, a rent became available, and this has been our home now for for about 14 years now. One of the main entrances to Acadia National Park is about a two minute walk up the street. We home school our children, who are invlolved in helping out in two different food banks, they pay visits to local nursing homes, and are deeply involved in their church youth groups. We enjoy hiking the national Park or exploring the mountain sides, spending time at the Bear Brook picnic area and just hanging out downtown meeting new people from many different parts of the world. Our little town of bar Harbor gets over 3 million tourists each summer and I am blessed to be surrounded by a world of beauty.
